Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society (www.sigmaxi.org). Sigma Xi is the international honour society of science and engineering. The Society is committed to the exchange of scientific information among scientists all over the world and has an enduring programme to develop young scientists.

Science and Development Network (SciDevNet) (http://www.scidev.net).You can subscribe to receive weekly email updates which would among other things provide you with information on scientific developments as they affect the developing world; advertisements on upcoming scientific events, fellowships and grants adverts as well as job vacancies in several organizations. The SciDevNet has a portal on Open Source which is very informative. This should be a must for every scientist in the South.

Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), Trieste, Italy (http://www.twas.org). In the TWAS website, are several fellowship and grant adverts with their corresponding deadlines. In association with a number organizations, TWAS has initiated fellowships for several categories of scientists. Young scientists and women have special programmes within the framework of activities of TWAS singly or in association with collaborating institutions and organizations like UNESCO, TWOWS, ICTP, etc.
